The studio

Hikarit Labs Private Limited is a small independent studio. The same people take a project from the first architecture call to the thing running in production, and stay with it afterwards.

Named for light

Hikari is the Japanese word for light. We named the studio after it because the job is the same either way: take something tangled and make it clear.

We build software people actually use. That sentence is the whole brief. Clarity is not decoration here — it is the deliverable. A product nobody can find their way through is a product nobody uses, however good the engineering underneath it happens to be.

The studio has been building since 2024, for founders and businesses in India and abroad, and for its own products. Working on both sides of that line keeps us honest: we carry the consequences of our own architecture decisions every day, in software we still have to run.

How we think

Four ideas we keep returning to. They are borrowed from Japanese design, and they earn their place by changing what we actually ship.

    Space is part of the work

    What you leave out shapes a product as much as what you put in. We argue for the smaller version, because the smaller version is the one that ships and stays understandable.

    Subtract before adding

    The best feature request is often a question about why the last three features are not being used. We would rather remove a screen than add one.

  • 03

    Same hands, start to finish

    The people in the first architecture call are the people writing the code, and the people you email when something breaks at eleven at night. A project does not change hands halfway through.

    Straight answers

    If your idea does not need what you are asking us to build, we will say so before we invoice for it. We have turned down work we could not do well, and we would rather do that than do it badly.

Four steps, in this order, on every engagement — from a two-week piece of work to a product we operate for years.

    Understand

    We dig into the real problem and the constraints around it — budget, timeline, the team who will inherit it — not just a feature wishlist.

  2. 02

    Decide

    Clear technical choices and a scope you can actually read, sized to your timeline. You will know what we are building, why, and what it costs.

  3. 03

    Build

    Tight iterations with visible progress. Working software in your hands early and often, so course corrections are cheap instead of catastrophic.

  4. 04

    Ship & continue

    Deployed, monitored, and ready to grow — with someone who actually knows the codebase still answering the phone.
